Summer 2004

8/19/04 Into the Summer;   Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere;   Regression/Antenna;   White-Faced Dog;   We're So Nervous;   The Internationale;   Boathouse;   I Don't Want To Love You;   Sleep In A Burning Town;   Don't Let Me Down;   New Fast One;   In Transit;   Voted Out of the Solar System   , 3rd Thursday Street Festival, Willimantic, CT

Nate: We arrived in Willimantic under menacing skies and found the spot on the sidewalk where our stage was supposed to be. The stage never arrived, though, so the sound guys threw down some rugs and there we were.

The sun forced its way through while we were playing, and people were enjoying our set, it seemed. I noticed more than one person standing directly in front of the stage, blocking one ear and trying to talk on their cell phones. It was strange. I was picturing them shouting into their phones "I'm sorry, this very rude band is standing right near me..."

Anywho, we sold a bunch of CDs, both kinds! And then, as soon as we were done playing, the heavens rained down their wet vengeance. Thanks to the very attentive, professional sound guys, they did an excellent job.

7/17/04 Setlist unknown
, Hooker Saloon, Hartford, CT

Nate: This was our first show in quite a while. We practiced for a while beforehand in Chris' new garage, as fowl wandered about and his sheep bleated after every song. Then we packed up all of our cars to the brim (no more van to fill up) and made our way to the Hooker Saloon.

The name was a bit misleading, as there were no ladies of the night to be found anywhere. But there was a huge stage and gigantic rooms with pool tables and big screen televisions. As I told Mose, "a band with fans could really do well in a place like this."

We had fun, and even sold a copy of our new cd after the set. Then we realized we had forgotten to bring any cds. We're mailing it out today, though. Sorry, Gary!

After the show, Mose, Lauren, and I inspected a creepy abandoned building next door and tried to guess how many homeless people were asleep inside.

I heard the first part of the Realm's show. They sounded really tight, their loud songs punctuated by pregnant pauses and interesting changes. Definitely the best I've heard them so far! Thanks for having us, Realm.
